WHEN TO USE THE DIRECT/INDIRECT OBJECTS

OpenStudy (superflytyguy):

I've noticed that many people on OS have asked what sentence contains the direct and indirect object, so that's what this tutorial is about.

OpenStudy (superflytyguy):

First, we'll take a look at Direct Objects. An easy way to find the direct object is to find the noun or pronoun RIGHT after the verb. For example, I like to play Super Mario. Play is our verb, so guess what our direct object is? That's right! Super Mario!

OpenStudy (superflytyguy):

Now if I added more to that sentence, I like to play Super Mario for the Gamecube. Super Mario is still the direct object, but what does that make Gamecube?

OpenStudy (superflytyguy):

Direct objects answer "Who?" or "What?" in a sentence. Indirect objects answer "For who?" or "For what?" I like to play Super Mario for the what? Gamecube. That makes Gamecube our indirect object!

OpenStudy (conqueror):

Great explanation on direct and indirect objects @SuperflyTyGuy You can add it onto @Abhisar's tutorial website.

OpenStudy (superflytyguy):

Thanx @Conqueror

OpenStudy (conqueror):

No problem. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):
