OpenStudy (anonymous):

how much of 2 is im assuming 1/4

OpenStudy (mvpriest6):

???

OpenStudy (igreen):

Is that \(\dfrac{1}{4}\)? @Mvpriest6

OpenStudy (mvpriest6):

yes

OpenStudy (igreen):

Okay, well remember we got 12.25 when we divided? Now we multiply that to 1/4, what's \(\sf 12.25 \times 0.25\)?

OpenStudy (mvpriest6):

3.0625

OpenStudy (igreen):

Yep, so \(\dfrac{1}{4}\) inches on the map represents 3.0625 miles.

OpenStudy (mvpriest6):

I dont quite get that could u do it one more time plz

OpenStudy (igreen):

Well in the last question it said 2 inches is 25 miles. So we can set up a proportion, we plug in 0.25 because that represents 1/4 inches, and 'x' represents the number of miles we want to find. \(\sf \dfrac{2}{25} = \dfrac{0.25}{x}\) Cross multiply: \(\sf 6.25 = 2x\) Divide 2 to both sides: \(\sf x = 3.0625\)

OpenStudy (mvpriest6):

oh ok thx @iGreen
