OpenStudy (mvpriest6):

Part B A frame that is 2 inches wide surrounds the picture. What is the total area of the picture and the frame in square inches?

OpenStudy (mvpriest6):

@iGreen plz help

OpenStudy (igreen):

Any more information? Like a picture?

OpenStudy (mvpriest6):

no if you were on my old question it had part one

OpenStudy (mvpriest6):

Question 2: A circular picture is 8 inches in diameter. Part A What is the area of the picture in square inches

OpenStudy (mvpriest6):

there

OpenStudy (mvpriest6):

we need question 2 part b

OpenStudy (igreen):

So..you don't need Part A?

OpenStudy (mvpriest6):

no we have a circle that is 8 inches diameter thats the info we need from part a

OpenStudy (mvpriest6):

figure out part b now i already know part a

OpenStudy (igreen):

The formula for the area of a circle is: \(\sf A = \pi r^2\) It says the picture's diameter is 8 inches. The diameter of the picture and the frame is 10 inches, because the frame adds on 2 inches. \(\sf A = \pi \times 10^2\) Can you solve that?

OpenStudy (mvpriest6):

whats pie again

OpenStudy (mvpriest6):

3.14

OpenStudy (mvpriest6):

3.14 * 10 squared right

OpenStudy (igreen):

Yep, you got it.

OpenStudy (mvpriest6):

idk the answer i didnt know i would get this far

OpenStudy (igreen):

\(\sf 10^2 \rightarrow 10 \times 10 \rightarrow~?\)

OpenStudy (mvpriest6):

100

OpenStudy (mvpriest6):

thats not an answer

OpenStudy (igreen):

I know.. Now we multiply \(\sf 3.14 \times 100\).

OpenStudy (mvpriest6):

314.

OpenStudy (mvpriest6):

thats still not an answer

OpenStudy (mvpriest6):

4 pie 12 pie 36 pie or 40 pie

OpenStudy (mvpriest6):

@iGreen u there

OpenStudy (igreen):

Oops it said the diameter was 8 inches..adding 2 will make it 10 inches..and the radius is half the diameter. Half of 10 is 5, so the radius is 5..so we actually have: \(\sf A = \pi r^2\) \(\sf A = 5^2 \pi\) \(\sf 5^2 \rightarrow 5 \times 5 \rightarrow~?\)

OpenStudy (mvpriest6):

@AnswerMyQuestions could you help

OpenStudy (igreen):

Made another mistake..actually the radius would be 12..and half of that is 6..so what's \(6 \times 6\)?

OpenStudy (igreen):

That will be your answer.

OpenStudy (mvpriest6):

10

OpenStudy (mvpriest6):

@iGreen

OpenStudy (mvpriest6):

36

OpenStudy (mvpriest6):

:D

OpenStudy (mvpriest6):

thx

OpenStudy (mvpriest6):

r u there

OpenStudy (mvpriest6):

is @AnswerMyQuestions your brother @iGreen

OpenStudy (mvpriest6):

? u there ?

OpenStudy (mvpriest6):

oh well bye thx again

OpenStudy (igreen):

Yep, your answer is 36pi..and yes, @AnswerMyQuestions is my brother..
