Let f(x)=-2x+4 and g(x) =-6x-7. Find f(x) - g(x)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Please anyone help. I have NO idea how to do the f(x), g(X) ect.. questions. Any one? Please.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(-2x+4)-(-6x-7) solve that. and you will get gx - fx

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How do I do that? I sound dumb, but honestly I just cant do math on my own without being guided. I know they draw arrows from the 4 to -6x and -2 to -17. So do I subtract those?

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

(-2x + 4) -1(-6x - 7) can you distribute the -1 outside the 2nd set of brackets..?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@campbell_st 6x +7 ?

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

thats correct so the problem now becomes -2x + 4 + 6x + 7 just collect the like terms... hope it helps

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that the answer to the entire problem? @campbell_st

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4x + 11?

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

that's correct, well done
