how do you express each ratio as a unit rate

Mehek (mehek14):

As a fraction

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

well there seems to be a slight problem here. ratios require the same units e.g $4.00 to $3.00 is a ratio of 4:3 when simplified rates allow for a comparison of different quantities e.g 6 oranges for $3.00 the cost per orange(rate) is $0.50 per orange or $0.50/orange so a unit rate is where you express a quantity for 1 unit of the other quantity e.g speed 45 miles in 3 hours its 45/3 per 3/3 or 15 miles per hr hope it makes some sense
