what does "civilized" mean in this sentence? Even though Dana was still upset, she could not forget how civilized some of the people had been. Angry Scared Polite Ignorant
Which do you think it is?
i wasn't really sure because it looks like sarcasm to me.
@k_lynn ?
She's not being sarcastic. Civilized is like polite and proper. So I think it's option C.
okay, thank you. do you mind helping me with another, @k_lynn ?
I can try.
She brought out factual evidence of her position, thus negating the opposition's argument. Using the context, the word "negating" as it is used means proving making ineffective applauding making confusing
Firstly, once again I will ask like the other person, what do you think the correct answer is?
making ineffective?
You're right! It is not proving because it says she is giving evidence for HER side of the argument, which would not prove her opponent's, but would DISPROVE it. It is not applauding because there is no proof within the sentence that she at any time applauded her opponent's argument. It just says that she gave evidence to support her own side. And, lastly, it is not making confusing because - A) Once again there is no evidence of this within the sentence, and B) Good evidence in an argument doesn't make anything confusing. Evidence is meant to show clearly that one thing is true and another is not.
