What is 3 2/5 times 2 1/3 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

7 14/15

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you! :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh in simplest form too sorry.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I forgot.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that is in simplest form

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh! Thanks! :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, new question.

jagr2713 (jagr2713):

@ Welcome to Open Study skirby and @cali16 please refrain from giving direct answers. thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is 5 1/3 times (-4 4/5)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Aw!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I can't have answers, but I can have help right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh, and thanks! :D

jagr2713 (jagr2713):

Yes they have to explain how they get the answers and teach you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, could you help me answer mine?

jagr2713 (jagr2713):

Thanks for understanding and when you get the time please read our code of conduct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay! I will when I'm finished with my assignments.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you! It's very colorful!

jagr2713 (jagr2713):

sorry i am busy right now with homework i know someone who can help you, @sleepyjess

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

Oh ok :)

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

I would probably convert those fractions into improper fractions first =)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So @sleepyjess , I figured the answer out on my own. It was easier than I thought :/

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

Ok :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I do have a new question! :)

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

Ok :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is -4 2/5 divided by (-5)?

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

\(\sf \dfrac{-4\dfrac{2}{5}}{\dfrac{-5}{1}}\) To divide a fraction by a fraction, take the second fraction, in this case -5/1, and flip it, then multiply :)

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

So the new expression is \(\sf -4\dfrac{2}{5}*\dfrac{5}{1}\). Now we need to make this an improper fraction.

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

Whoops, I really messed that up \(\sf -4\dfrac{2}{5}*-\dfrac{1}{5}\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which would be... -4 22/5 right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Er no just 22/5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That makes sense.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry, I type fast.

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

Yep :) Don't forget the negative. So now we have \(\sf-\dfrac{22}{5}*-\dfrac{1}{5}\). Now, just multiply the top times the top, and the bottom times the bottom :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

22/25

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

mhmm :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks!

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

No problem! Do you know how to give medals?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry.

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

Just click the Best Response button right there -------->>>

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ha! Just did :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You are the math sensei! And I'm just a grasshopper :)

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

That is for the person that helped you the most on your question. You can only give one medal per question :) If you have any questions about the website, don't hesitate to contact me :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Just one last question though.

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

Ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is 5 1/4 divided by 1 5/9?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In simplest form.

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

Same thing we just did :) Flip the second fraction, put them into improper fractions and multiply

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

Actually, put them in improper fractions first

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Right, right!

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

Let me know what you get :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

21/4 divided by 14/9

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

Yep, now flip the second one and multiply

OpenStudy (anonymous):

21/4 divided by 9/14 = 189/56

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Don't know if it's in simplest form though...

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

let me see, I believe it is

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is there any way to know for sure?

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

It would appear this is divisible by 7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmm...

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

Here is a link where you can put it in simplest form http://www.numere-prime.ro/simplificarea_fractiilor.php?lang=en

OpenStudy (anonymous):

27/8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmm..anything those can go into?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh! It's already reduced!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hmm... question wrong...ah well! Ya can't know everything!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Say, I could still need your help, could you please stay just a little while longer online on this website while I go through the next lesson?

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

Yep, that is as far as it can go :)

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

sure :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh...

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

If you would, close this question and when you are ready, open a new question and tag me by putting @sleepyjess

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wait, uh, @sleepyjess , there's been a change of plans.

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

And you can also let people know that you appreciate their help by fanning them :)

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

Ok, what is that change of plans?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, I have to sleep, it's late. I wouldn't dare challenge my mom...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ecspecially when she's sick.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Will you be online tomorrow?

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

Yes, I should be :) You can know when I am online by clicking my name, then Become a Fan

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay just did. See ya tomorrow! :D

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

:D
