I Need Help matching each example of figurative language with its interpretation.
What are your sentences ?
“He watches from his mountain walls, And like a thunderbolt he falls.
““As long as I live, I'll hear waterfalls and birds and winds sing. I'll interpret the rocks, learn the language of flood, storm, and the avalanche.”
“I'm only a child yet I know we are all part of a family, five billion strong, in fact, 30 million species strong and we all share the same air, water and soil.”
Choices...?
I have seen flocks streaming south in the fall so large that they were flowing over from horizon to horizon in an almost continuous stream all day long.”
Woah woah, one at a time...
“O if we but knew what we do When we delve or hew—Hack and rack the growing green!”
A) These lines use a simile to show the power of nature. “As long as I live, I'll hear B) These lines contain alliteration, which creates rhythm. C) These lines give human abilities such as singing and language to nature. D) These lines contain a hyperbole that creates a vivid image. E) The passage of prose contains a metaphor that shows how we are all connected.
ehhhh...
So all of those sentences belong to one type of speech ?
The A,B,C,D,E Belong To The Sentences Above Them!
I need help matching them!
Let me reload the page...to many question marks.
What do you think?
oh yes it does that sometimes
“He watches from his mountain walls, And like a thunderbolt he falls.” “As long as I live, I'll hear waterfalls and birds and winds sing. I'll interpret the rocks, learn the language of flood, storm, and the avalanche.” “I'm only a child yet I know we are all part of a family, five billion strong, in fact, 30 million species strong and we all share the same air, water and soil.” “I have seen flocks streaming south in the fall so large that they were flowing over from horizon to horizon in an almost continuous stream all day long.” “O if we but knew what we do When we delve or hew—Hack and rack the growing green!”
That might be better idk
What do you mean what do i think idk i have tried but its confusing to me!
C = waterfalls and birds and wind singing, because usually they dont sing
A is easy.
You just need to find which sentence has "As long as I live, I'll hear"
D = flocks streaming, because that is an exaggeration or hyperbole

\(\color{blue}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @Phoenix2003 “O if we but knew what we do When we delve or hew—Hack and rack the growing green!” \(\color{blue}{\text{End of Quote}}\) what do you think this sentence employs
Hint: Alliteration is "the occurrence of the same letter or sound at the beginning of adjacent or closely connected words."
I was looking at my choices and i would say about the same as B = hese lines contain alliteration, which creates rhythm.
yes, you got it!
\(\color{blue}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @Phoenix2003 “He watches from his mountain walls, And like a thunderbolt he falls. \(\color{blue}{\text{End of Quote}}\) how about this one?
hold on
Im going to say A but i dont really see how it shows the true power of nature
i sort of but not completely
Well, I think you're right. There's a simile there: "Like a thunderbolt"
right thats why i was saying yes to it
Thanks a lot everyone!
Did you get all of them

because “I'm only a child yet I know we are all part of a family, five billion strong, in fact, 30 million species strong and we all share the same air, water and soil.” = E that one is pretty simple
