Help Please!!!!!!!!!! Ill Give Medal!!!!!!!!!! Three Branches The U.S. government is divided into three branches: executive, legislative, and judicial. Each branch has specific responsibilities it must carry out. Let’s see how this works when it comes to turning you from an idea into a law! Question: In three sentences, list one power that is held by each branch of our government.

OpenStudy (cakemeister):

Is this the full question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol no this is the question : In three sentences, list one power that is held by each branch of our government.

OpenStudy (cakemeister):

Oh okay! That makes better sense LOL. Well, what do you know of the three branches and that will give you your answer :)

OpenStudy (cakemeister):

The legislative branch is responsible for creating laws, commonly known as Congress. Or you could go into the House of Representatives and Senate...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

um xD idk if it helps with the question but i do know that they all have equal amounts of power and that one branch can veto a law but the another can override the veto o.o idk if it help but ya xD

OpenStudy (cakemeister):

Right! Which branch or person (hint) can provide the veto?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

um xD the Executive Branch can veto bills from the Legislative Branch, but the Legislative Branch can override the veto.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the Executive Branch

OpenStudy (cakemeister):

They also have to have 2/3 vote for the legislation to override.

OpenStudy (cakemeister):

Is it only supposed to be in 3 sentences?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

xD idk i think it can be more than 3 but ya the and caant have less then 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cant*

OpenStudy (cakemeister):

Okay. I was going to sentence squish LOL

OpenStudy (cakemeister):

So far, we've got: The Executive Branch has the power to veto bills that come from the Legislative Branch

OpenStudy (cakemeister):

Then, the Legislative Branch is able to override the Presidents veto with 2/3 majority vote.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep all we need now is is something from the Judicial Branch

OpenStudy (anonymous):

um i believe that its decision is final, and no other court can overrule those decisions i think im pretty sure

OpenStudy (cakemeister):

Let me think about this.... I forgot what the Judicial branch does... >.<

OpenStudy (anonymous):

xD here http://www.factmonster.com/ipka/A0774837.html

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have 4 more if u can help

OpenStudy (cakemeister):

I might be able to. Well, it looks like the Judicial Branch is there to ensure that the Legislative Branches bills are constitutional.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

As it turns out, you are an idea in the head of the U.S. President. He proposes you in his yearly State of the Union address. In this speech every year, the President sets the agenda for the nation. That means he proposes new ideas just like you to be considered by Congress that year. Pictured to the right is President Barack Obama delivering his State of the Union address in 2010. Question : When is the State of the Union address usually given? Look at the link for help. and ya not lol i just know the other stuff for a different question i had before lol

OpenStudy (cakemeister):

Oh okay :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

btw here the link lol http://history.house.gov/Institution/SOTU/Where-When/

OpenStudy (cakemeister):

The State of the Union addresses are usually given in January or February. ...according to the website.

OpenStudy (cakemeister):

Thank you for the medal and fandom, by the way :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:) np :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In one sentence, explain the first step a member of Congress needs to take to make a law

OpenStudy (cakemeister):

Well, obviously a person has to think about the law they would like to propose...so I don't think that could be an answer

OpenStudy (cakemeister):

In order for a member of Congress to make a law, they must present the bill to the House while they are "in session".

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What needs to happen to override the President’s veto so that you can become a law even if you are vetoed? Click on the link and use the reading on the page to find the answer. Link: http://history.house.gov/Institution/Presidential-Vetoes/Presidential-Vetoes/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

President's *

OpenStudy (cakemeister):

LOL! All I saw were stars. Give me a minute to read this.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ya xD that sometimes happens when u just comy n paste it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

copy*

OpenStudy (cakemeister):

On a regular veto, it must have 2/3 votes from both Houses. In a pocket veto, the veto is absolute nothing can happen afterward.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

When and how was the Supreme Court founded?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Link: http://www.supremecourt.gov/about/about.aspx

OpenStudy (cakemeister):

The Supreme Court first assembly was on February 1,1790. The Judiciary Act of 1789 divided the county into 13 districts giving it 13 judges.
