technically, this isn't correct. I think they want you to put in this answer, but catalysts do, in fact, partake in the reaction. but since they are not permanently changed in the course, your teachers apparently assume that they don't participate. which is wrong. :)
Catalyst influence the reaction, but they don't participate in the chemical change, and they are never written within the chemical equation. Catalyst are used and regenerated at the end of the reaction. Im positive my answer is correct.
yes, your answer is certainly correct. the thing is that the catalyst does partake in the reaction, actually. many enzymes stabilize an intermediate in a chemical reaction by chemically binding to it. just because they don't appear in the book doesn't mean they don't partake. so my answer was meant as an addition to yours, not as counter.
