Forty-five is 20% of what number? (I need legitimate help, no morons please)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

let the number be x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then 20 percent of x = 45

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got 225. I'm wrong right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ur correct

OpenStudy (lcnettech):

its 9 because you do 45 x 0.2.you move the decimal place over two places when you do percentages

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\(\dfrac{45}{x}\) = \(\dfrac{20}{100}\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Cross multiply.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I already got my answer. Leave.

OpenStudy (lcnettech):

its the wrong answer that she gave you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I ALREADY GOT IT

OpenStudy (lcnettech):

she didnt move the decimal place over like your suposed to

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Somebody get me a tampon.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@lcnettech Actually, the answer is correct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The question is "Forty-five is 20% of what number?" They got the answer 225. And 20% of 225 = 45, so the answer is correct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Don't take advice from him. He can't even spell you're.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Just because someone makes a typo doesn't mean you can insult them. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It wasn't a typo.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Does it really matter? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah it does. If they can't spell you're then they clearly don't know much.

OpenStudy (lcnettech):

you guys didnt move the decimal place over.and i should know all of my teacher have said that .which is 6 different teacher this year.do the math .and sorry if im sounding mean but i know for a fact that the answer is 9 .when doing percentages you are suposed to move the decimal over 2 places.and SORRY if i miss spelled a word.maybe people shouldnt help you OpiGeode.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got 225 and that was correct. So why are you still trying to control what I do?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The answer is 9? are you kidding me?

OpenStudy (lcnettech):

im not im try to help you get the right answer. but maybe it was a mistake trying to help you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, @lcnettech , I don't know what your teacher told you, but it's wrong. And he's correct, @OpiGeode , because if you want people to help you, you shouldn't be mean.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok, let's just stop arguing and ask the rest of the questions you have. @OpiGeode

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Don't call me a "he"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay I am still confused

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I didn't call you a "he".

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I hope you know what gender I am.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I actually do.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"And he's correct, @OpiGeode , because if you want people to help you, you shouldn't be mean." When I say "he" there, I am referring to @lcnettech

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay well I guess it's all good now.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes. So do you have any more questions?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nah.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Alright.
