OpenStudy (anonymous):

x - 6 / -3 + x + 9/ 9 = x - 4 A. {-9/11} B. {-27/11} C. {-45/11} D. {-63/11}

OpenStudy (phi):

is this \[ \frac{x-6}{-3} +\frac{x+9}{9} = x-4\]?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes! @phi

OpenStudy (phi):

one way is to "clear the denominator" multiply both sides (and all terms) by 9 can you do that? what do you get ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, I got for the numerator 63, and for the denominator -27. @phi

OpenStudy (phi):

? do it like this: \[ 9 \cdot \frac{x-6}{-3} +9 \cdot \frac{x+9}{9} = 9(x-4) \] each term on both sides is multiplied by 9 can you simplify that ?
