Which does not show a direct variation between x and y? a. y = 4/x b. y = 0.5x c. y = 7x d. y = x/9 I sorta think it's d or a but I'm not sure

OpenStudy (misty1212):

HI!!

OpenStudy (misty1212):

unfortunately you would be wrong, because \[y=\frac{x}{9}\]is the same as \[y=\frac{1}{9}x\] direct

OpenStudy (misty1212):

pick the one with the variable in the denominator

OpenStudy (anonymous):

maybe c then?

OpenStudy (misty1212):

lol no do you know what i mean when i say "the variable in the denominator"? that means it is in in the bottom of the fraction

OpenStudy (misty1212):

direct variation means it looks like \[y=kx\] and \[y=7x\] looks just like that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

aha, I'm not very good with math. Can't understand half of it but yea, I sorta got what you meant when you said that. So then would it be a? Because the x is in the bottom of the fraction?

OpenStudy (misty1212):

yes that is the one, A has the variable in the denominator, so it is NOT direct variation !

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay, thank you for helping me with this! :D
