Complete the following ordered pairs for the equation. 9x + -5y = 60 (-5, _) (_, -3) (10, _)
To figure out the ordered pairs, you need to plug in the values it gives you and find the second missing value. For an example we will take the first one (-5, _). -5 is the value x, so plug it into the equation 9x + -5y = 60 to get 9(-5) + -5y = 60. 9 X -5 is -45. So the equation then become -45 + -5y = 60 Then you add 45 on either side to get rid of the -45. so 60 + 45 is 105. Now you are at -5y = 105. To get down to just the y, you divide -5 on either side. So 105 divided by -5 is -21. y = -21. So the first answer is (-5, -21) You then plug in and repeat the process for the other ones. Just remember that in the case of the second one (_, -3), the -3 is the value for y, not x because it is in the second place.
