i am not sure how to exactly get this can you help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Use the graph below to fill in the blank with the correct number: f(1) = _______

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i looked althrough the lesson twice. nothing really tells me how to do it

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

When x = 1, what is y?

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

In other words, what is the coordinate? (1, ?)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

see that is what i get confused about

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

The coordinates?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do I find y? do I just look on the graph is so, x = 1 and y = 1

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

Yes, all you have to do is look at the graph, but the y coordinate isn't 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait if x = 0 then y = 1

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

Yes! So when x = 1, y = ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2? how do I find out?

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

What line is this? http://prntscr.com/5zfv4j

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x = 1 and y = -2 in that coordinate and it is a horizontal line

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ooh

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

Yep, so when x = 1, y = -2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so -2 would be my answer?

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

Yep

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ooh that makes much more sense, thanks

sammixboo (sammixboo):

can you help again @sleepyjess

sammixboo (sammixboo):

She logged out and needs to verify her account, but it isn't verified, so Imma let her take over my account

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

with?

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

mk

sammixboo (sammixboo):

but it isn't verifying*

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

okie

sammixboo (sammixboo):

OK give her a second

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

just have her tag me when she is ready

sammixboo (sammixboo):

Find f(5) for this sequence: f(1) = 2 and f(2) = 4, f(n) = f(1) + f(2) + f(n - 1), for n > 2. f(5) = ______ i got 10 just wanna make sure i done everything right

sammixboo (sammixboo):

f(1) = f(1) + f(2) + f(3 - 1) f(1) = f(3) + f(2) f(1) = 5? see i can't figure it out, this is why i am checking

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

f(1) is given, it equals 2

sammixboo (sammixboo):

cause it says f(1) = 2 and i got f(1) = 5, cause n > 2 so i started with 3

sammixboo (sammixboo):

so does n > 2 only applies to f(3), f(4), and f(5)... or what?

sammixboo (sammixboo):

or only f(5)

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

This one is really getting me

sammixboo (sammixboo):

i don't understand wanna try to solve it from the beginning together or something

sammixboo (sammixboo):

i hate functions they confuse me so much

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

lemme see if I can find anything really quick

sammixboo (sammixboo):

ok want me to start a new post

sammixboo (sammixboo):

so we can start fresh

sammixboo (sammixboo):

sam just got my account verified brb

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

okie ^_^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

back but imma put a new post
