Given that f(x) is one-to-one, if f(2)=6 and f(3)=7, find: a) f ^(-1)(6) b) f ^(-1)(f(3))

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

were you able to get anywhere?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

absolutely not.... I am riding the struggle bus my friend.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

f(x) is some function where you plug in x = 2 and you get y = 6 out this is because we have f(2) = 6

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

the inverse simply takes the output and brings you back to the input it's like a time machine to go back in time if you know the result (6), then you can use the inverse function to get the original input (2)

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

does that make sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not really... sorry. I just don't understand how to plug it all in and work through it.
