When dividing polynomials, what do you do when an x is the denominator? You don't have to solve the example, I just need an explanation. example: 4x^3+5x^2+3x/x

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

I'm pretty sure what you would do is factor the numerator so it becomes \[\frac{ x(4x^2+5x+3) }{x }\]

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

Now you just cross out the x..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x would cancel out..!

OpenStudy (some.random.cool.kid):

sort of

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

Why distribute if I factored it lol just cross out the 2 x's
