The Sick Rose William Blake O Rose, thou art sick! The invisible worm That flies in the night, In the howling storm, Has found out thy bed Of crimson joy, And his dark secret love Does thy life destroy. What figures of speech do you find in the poem in addition to symbol? How do they contribute to its force or meaning? Several symbolic interpretations of this poem are given below. Can you think of others? Should symbolic meanings be sought for the night and the storm? If so, what meanings would you suggest?
