could you please help me to answer to this question. why punishment is a poorer motivator than reward?

If your boss came up to you and told you that if you didn't finish your job correctly before clocking out you would have to clean the bathrooms during your next shift you wouldn't feel too happy or motivated would you? Now what if your boss told you to finish up your job correctly before clocking out and you would get a raise, you'd feel a lot better and more motivated, wouldn't you?

You need both rewards and consequences because with just rewards people dont have to care. With just consequences people will try to look for a way out. U need both to balence eachother

but if ur just looking for the cons of pure punishment there u go. People wont be happy they will fear u and fear is not something thats good because when people are scared of u theyre just waiting for u to be weak so they can revolt or theyre waiting for the opportunity to escape and then theyll leave
