Because the antibiotic disrupts a metabolic pathway that is specific to bacteria. That's why it's so difficult to come up with new antibiotics.

Because before antibiotics are made they go through a series or trials the antibiotics are sort of told that they have to target ONLY harmful pathogens (bacteria) inside your body this is why they do not target healthy cells
