If the distance between two objects is decreased to one fourth of the original distance, how will this decrease change the force of attraction between the objects?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You posted twice ... The force varies inversely with the square of the distance. Doubling the distance would reduce the force to one fourth. Halving the distance quadruples the force. So, if the distance is reduced to one quarter of its original value, what do you think would happen to the force?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then the force was not that much if the distance was one quarter of the original force.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, as the distance between the objects decreases, the force gets larger, but by how much?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[F=K1/r^2 ,,,f/F=16r^2/r ^2=16....... F=f/16\]
