Graph the line with slope −3/4 passing through the point −3, 5

OpenStudy (doc.brown):

The point at (x , y) is (-3, 5). Count -3 along the x axis and 5 up the y and draw a point. The slope \(\frac{-3}{4}\) means for every 4 x, y goes down by 3 (or up by -3)

OpenStudy (doc.brown):

When you see a slope, you should think about how much y is changing when x does. I always remember "change in y over change in x". If you make the word change a greek symbol Delta \(\Delta\), you can write\[\frac{\Delta y}{\Delta x}\]Remember this, it will come up later.
