OpenStudy (mathmate):

This may be a little easy for many of you. But lately I had to type \(\bar{x}\) in LaTeX. I came across this link which I would like to share with those of you who have not memorized all the codes listed there: http://www.artofproblemsolving.com/Wiki/index.php/LaTeX:Symbols

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

I've seen that link before but forgot about it. It has many great symbols. The sad thing is that I barely use them. Thanks for sharing it with us. @mathmate I'm currently learning a few symbols from that link. \(\Huge\S\) ^I like that one.^ \(\Huge\wp\) ^This one looks cool.^

OpenStudy (mathmate):

I can now use \(\Re\) instead of R that I have been using!

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

Cool. \(\Re\) It doesn't work for other letters though.

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

\(Lolz\)

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

...did I interrupt something? XD

OpenStudy (mathmate):

I normally use them for the sets of numbers, \(\Re, \Im \), but I cannot find the symbols for Q (rational), or Z(integers) and N (natural numbers)...too bad! :(

OpenStudy (mathmate):

@EclipsedStar Not at all! Please join us!

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

\(\Huge\delta\)

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

Capitals make a huge difference in LaTeX. `\(\Huge\delta\)` Becomes: \(\Huge\delta\) `\(\Huge\Delta\)` Becomes: \(\Huge\Delta\)

OpenStudy (kainui):

@matmate You are using those symbols wrong! Those are what you use to denote the real and imaginary parts of a number, for instance \[\Large \Re \{a+bi \} = a\] What you want are these: \[\Large \mathbb{R}, \mathbb{Q}, \mathbb{Z}, \mathbb{N}\] All of which are actually supplied in the equation editor if you look for them heh. =P

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

... ive got these symbols in my latex tutorial that nobody seems to know about ;-;

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

doesnt anyone know the 3rd tutorial is out? :/

OpenStudy (mathmate):

@Jaynator495 Sorry that I only learned about the 3rd tutorial now, it does contain a lot of information. In fact, I have bookmarked it for future reference. My Interconnection (or computer) is not very fast, so displaying OS post tend to be hiccupy and time consuming because of the constant updates to the posts. On the other hand, I like the compactness of the link above, because with Chrome, I can detach the page and use it for reference with minimum scrolling. Don't know if you have a mailing list. If you have a new version of LaTeX tutorial or other relevant information, please feel free to tag me.

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

gladly ._o

OpenStudy (mathmate):

@Kainui Appreciate your heads up about the symbols. So \Re and \Im are just for \(\mathbb{C}\). Don't know what the problem is: the editor shows \Real but does not seem to work. However, \mathbb{R} works (\(\mathbb{R}\)). I must confess that I am quite awkward with the equation editor.

OpenStudy (kainui):

I honestly don't really know much latex, I just google stuff if it's not in the equation editor to be honest. I've branched out a bit, but really there's not much of a need to use different colors and texts and stuff for what I do lol.

OpenStudy (nobrainiachere):

\(\huge\color{blue}{{I~have~memorized~how~to~type~in~latex}}\)

OpenStudy (mathmate):

@kainui same here. I only need to use the basic stuff to make the math expressions more tidy, legible and unambiguous.

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

i dont need anything... #LaTeXMaster!LAB!

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

then i just jump up and go... WULULULULULULULULULULULULULULULULU! XD
