Mathematics 16 Online

Simplify: √16w^12

OpenStudy (luigi0210):

\(\Large \sqrt{16x^{12}}\) ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, how would I simplify that?

OpenStudy (luigi0210):

Break it up into smaller, simplifiable pieces. For example, 16 can be broken into 2*2*2*2 or 4*4, you need 2 of the same number to be able to take it out of the square root. Same with x, \(\ \sqrt{x^2}=x \) since there are two x's: \(\Large \sqrt{16x^{12}=4*4x^6*x^6} \) \

I got \[2\sqrt{4x^6}\] I'm so confused -.-
