Describe a rainbow and its colors without specifically stating what they are...
@spudmushie123
Without saying exactly the names of the colors or what a rainbow is? Or both? You could use similes and metaphor and other figurative language.
ROYGBIV-red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo , violet. learned this in kindergarten
This is a very difficult question, as it is hard to describe the colors beyond their light and dark values. As well, there is a philosophy that what I see as blue might really be your yellow, but we both learned the color as blue, so there, in that sense, is no real way to categorize or describe the colors. However, as @neonumbrella5115 said, you can use similies, such as saying the colors in order are an apple, an orange, a banana, etc.
Describe a rainbow: rainbow definition: an arch of colors formed in the sky in certain circumstances, caused by the refraction and dispersion of the sun's light by rain or other water droplets in the atmosphere. reword that for the first part.
second part: describe the colors of a rainbow this part will be tricky for sure
Ok so I could almost look at writing a descriptive essay on this topic by also looking at how I would explain it to someone who was like a character from The Giver and has never seen colors...
color definition: the property possessed by an object of producing different sensations on the eye as a result of the way the object reflects or emits light.
oh for the giver?
describe it as visual enhancements for objects?
well i need a 2.5 paper using the descriptive method of writing and I figured this would give me the best amount of creativity and detail...
well try to go along the lines of enhancements and try to describe what the object is like with and without color?.. im not sure how else you could explain it
yeah i may have to choose a different topic. this comp 1 teacher gave us a list and it has things on it like describe a cell phone or a bowl of fruit...
cellphone may be easier for you :)
it depends on how advanced they let you do it. if they let you do smartphone, you are promised an easy 2 pages!
Yeah Im one of those people where i like to be different and out of the box... especially in a class where the kids are still writing papers on drugs and stuff like in high school. lol
You could use words to describe color through sight, touch and sound. You cant say yellow like a banana because you have to assume the reader doesn't know what a banana is. You could use words such as red is hot like the sun on a summers day, or blue is like the ice cold water in winter. You could describe white as a sharp edged diamond. Imagine you are speaking to a blind person. The rainbow needs to be described in very descriptive ways but if you want a 2.5, stay away from color references as that defeats the purpose of the essay. Good Luck.,
