Introns are edited out of the mRNA at the ribosomes. True or False?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I say false @shrutipande9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@butterflydreamer

OpenStudy (nottim):

Why is that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what?

OpenStudy (nottim):

Why do you think it is false that introns are edited out of the mRNA at the ribosomes?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I havent really heard anything about introns

OpenStudy (nottim):

Let's take this step by step. What are introns?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a segment of a DNA or RNA molecule that does not code for proteins and interrupts the sequence of genes.

OpenStudy (nottim):

Alright, and what (if anything) does mRNA do at the ribosomes?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a mrna sequence is read using a genetic code

OpenStudy (nottim):

Where is the mRNA sequence read?

OpenStudy (nottim):

And where does transcription, translation, etc occur?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

initiation, elongation, and termination.

OpenStudy (nottim):

Where does this occur?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the site im looking at doesnt say

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The ribosome has a small and a large subunit and is a complex molecule composed of several ribosomal RNA molecules and a number of proteins. Translation of an mRNA molecule by the ribosome occurs in three stages: initiation, elongation, and termination

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats what it says in part of it

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

there are 2 parts in genome..one are exons..which actually code for proteins..and the other are introns which do not code for anything....so the non coding introns are removed or spliced before the mrna is being translated by ribosomes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the answer is true. Thanks for not making me write you an essay like the other guy lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not trying to be mean js

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

lol...i think before answering these questions..read what is given to u first

OpenStudy (nottim):

ow. Its called da learning process.

OpenStudy (nottim):

Walk em thru it.

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

i know tim...u were doing the right thing..sorry to have interrupted.:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i did i read the whole article but i didnt wanna have to write an essay

OpenStudy (nottim):

Pah. undergrad bio, every lab has a report.

OpenStudy (nottim):

But good luck with it all.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

anyways , @shrutipande9 and intrains be spliced during mrna?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

introns*

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

once mrna is synthesized introns are spliced

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so no?
