How can you explain the ambiguous case with the Law of Sines?

OpenStudy (kainui):

What is the ambiguous case?

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

No triangles exist, one triangle exists, or two triangles exist.

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

With the given conditions.

OpenStudy (kainui):

Yeah, write out the whole question, I'm sort of confused.

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

Describe, in detail, when to use the law of cosines, the law of sines, and the law of sines with the ambiguous case.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you use sin law sin a/y=sin c/x then c will have two values

OpenStudy (butterflydreamer):

i was taught that the ambiguous case applied to the law of sines where there could be two different triangles drawn... say if theta was an obtuse or acute angle?

OpenStudy (kainui):

I don't remember learning about this, interesting.
