How is the comma used as an interrupter in this sentence? Who, in your opinion, won the battle of Waterloo? appositive direct address parenthetical expression summary coordinate adjectives preceding a noun
Not summary.
ok thats one
Obviously But what is an appositive?
I'll copy and paste my definitions from the last question.
Appositive: An appositive is a noun, noun phrase, or series of nouns placed next to another word or phrase to identify or rename it. Direct Address: A direct address is the name of the person (normally) who is being directly spoken to. It is always a proper noun. It does not have any grammatical relationship to any part of the sentence. It is set off by commas. Parenthetical Expression: A parenthetical expression is an expression which is inserted into the flow of thought. It may be in the middle of a sentence or between sentences, but it does not deal directly with the topic at hand. Summary is just an explanation.
And appositive is another noun that renames the noun next to it
Oh there we go, haha
