what is the quotient written in scientific notation 6x10^24/8 x 10^8

OpenStudy (athenawolf):

What do you think you should do to try to solve this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont understand this stuff

OpenStudy (athenawolf):

Okay. The nice thing about scientific notation division is that it works very much like regular division as long as the base of the power (10, in this case), is the same. You have to divide the coefficients and then all you have to do is subtract the exponent on the bottom from the exponent on the top.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but wats the answer?

OpenStudy (athenawolf):

Try to figure it out. For example, if it were 2x10^8/5x10^5, you would do 2/5 and then you would subtract 5 from 8, getting 3, and end up with (2/5)x10^3. Does that make sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not really i just wanted to know wat the answer....so i can pass this class cause im not doing to well....

OpenStudy (athenawolf):

You'll do better if you know how to get the answer to the problem. In this case, your coefficients are 6 and 8, and your exponents are 24 and 8.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ill give medal if u answer this and one more for me....so i can pass this lesson in my class....
