"Osteonecrosis is a disease caused by reduced blood flow to bones in the joints. In people with healthy bones, new bone is always replacing old bone. In osteonecrosis, the lack of blood causes the bone to break down faster than the body can make enough new bone." Based on this passage and your knowledge of bone, what is one way that reduced blood flow could cause osteonecrosis? A.Inadequate opening within the perforating canals B.Inadequate opening within the Haversian canal C.Inadequate nutrients delivered to the osteoclasts D.Inadequate nutrients delivered to the osteoblasts

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think it's D, I just need confirmation.

OpenStudy (praetorian.10):

yes, because the blood flow has been stemmed it minimises the amount of oxidised blood and nutrients thereof that are transported to the body's extremities.

OpenStudy (praetorian.10):

basically like as though the heart is only half pumping blood around the body - to make an analogy

OpenStudy (praetorian.10):

the repercussions as a result of this are severe - as can be expected

OpenStudy (praetorian.10):

if you need any more help i'm a few days away from passing my medical degree so hit me up a msg
