Hey guys! Would someone mind checking some of my English answers? I'm not trying to cheat, just want to know if I need to go back and change some things, or what I should look at more closely. Any help/tips/hints would be greatly appreciated!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i would love to, hun. let me see :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are you still here?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you so much :) Which words most clearly suggest tragedy? Bright, dim, hollow Creeping, darkening, gray Glowing, filling, shimmer Lively, blush, light

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I picked the second one.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i would definitely agree. a would of been close if it didn't have bright.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lol I thought the same thing. This one confused me a bit- Which word from the sentence gives it a formal tone? These issues will engage us for years to come and give us much to consider. Much Years Engage Issues

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I chose engage.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

engage doesn't sound as formal as 'much' to how it's used in this sentence. "The issues brought upon have brought much to consider." see how even without engage it holds it as formal?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You have a good point there, that was my second choice but I thought it was a bit of a small word to make formal. I see it now :) Thank you.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

even the smallest of words can hold their own. (:

Hester receives a constant stream of admonitions and moral guidance, but the guidance and nudgings Dimmesdale receives from Chillingsworth are far more sinister and evil. Based on the context, what does the word admonitions mean? Gentle or friendly criticism or advice Loud and frightening spirits or apparitions Free and loving manipulation of people Kind and open misinformation or lies I chose the first one.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/admonition here is the definition of admonition: a criticism or warning about behavior. so let's keep that in mind. he receives advice and guidance would definitely fit.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you :) Which word best describes a person who has become well advanced in a skill, but is not quite an expert? Novice Proficient Professional Talented This one confused me a bit as well, but I think it's Proficient. Maybe talented but I think proficient is a bit more advanced in a skill.. What do you think?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I would say proficient proficient: competent or skilled in doing or using something. talented: having a natural aptitude or skill for something.

Which of the following corrects the error in meaning and usage in the sentence below? The festival and the public conference will run concur with each other. Change festival to festivity. Change public to publication. Change conference to confer. Change concur to concurrently. I think this is the last, or second last one I need help with.. I have no idea what this one could be honestly. B doesnt seem right, neither does C.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you know what concurrently means?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Achilles_Suana

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for this one, it is simply knowing the meaning of words and plugging in those meanings to find the right one. A and C are definitely not right so you can cross them out.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

my reasoning for letting you cross those two out is plug and read. it is not correct grammar at all which you will see when reading.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know concurrently means at the same time, but I thought it was in a different form. But re-reading it sounds better than any other choices. Thank you guys

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This is the last question, I dont know what they mean by "bulk" At what point in the writing process would it be best to do the bulk of the research on your topic? After completing a first or second draft After creating an outline or plan Before completing your final draft Before creating an outline or plan

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Does it just mean most of your research?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it is asking at which point would it be best for you to do most of your research. yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Would it be the last choice then?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Since you would need to know about the subject before planning to write about it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):
