OpenStudy (freckles):
and for what x does that y occur
OpenStudy (freckles):
oh that isn't f
it is f' in drawing
OpenStudy (freckles):
first of all the endpoints are at x=-2 and x=6
and then the critical numbers will occur at the x-intercepts of the f' function there
OpenStudy (freckles):
so we need to consider the following x values:
x=-2,x=2,x=4,x=6
the absolute max will occur at at least one of these
OpenStudy (freckles):
oops x=5 not 4

okay got it so far
OpenStudy (freckles):
thinking on the other part
like do you have any ideas
OpenStudy (wade123):
i looked though my lesson and couldnt find anything that would help me solve this :/ im looking again
OpenStudy (freckles):
I can tell you I think it isn't 2 or 5
because we have this:
|dw:1423609233003:dw|
like f'<0 from x=-2 to 4 so we know f is decreasing from x=-2 to 4
and f'>0 from x=4 to 6 so we know f is increasing from x=4 to 6
