In quadratic equations, does the exponent have to be 2 or can it be any number up to 2?

OpenStudy (ribhu):

for the equation to be a quadratic it should have exponent as 2

OpenStudy (ribhu):

like when exponent 3 = cubic exponent 4 = biquadratic.

OpenStudy (ribhu):

hope @Fallontine likes it

thank you :) and if the exponent is for example 1.2, what type of equation is it? exponential, i guess, but I am not sure
