Check my answers on a couple questions? Find an equation for the nth term of the arithmetic sequence. -20, -16, -12, -8, ... I think an = -20 + 4(n - 1)

@haleyelizabeth2017

OpenStudy (haleyelizabeth2017):

I have no idea....don't think I've done this yet :( sorry!

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

darn :/

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

@phi

OpenStudy (phi):

yes, that looks good.

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

Thanks, I'm trying to get the other one, but it isn't loading :/

OpenStudy (phi):

yes, the site sometimes acts up

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

Here is the other one: Find the first six terms of the sequence. a1 = -8, an = 5 * a\(_{n-1}\) -8, -40, -200, -1000, -5000, -25,000

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

sleepyjess I agree with your latest answer BUT I recommend you write "-25,000" as "-25000" I'm tossing out the comma because the commas are being used to separate the other terms. So in a strange way, it kind of looks like the 6th term is -25 and the 7th term is 000. Yeah it's silly, but it's a bit confusing to have the comma being used in two different ways. Also, the computer would most likely find it confusing. If so, then you'd get marked wrong.

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

That is how they have it in the answer choice, haha ;)

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

oh then nvm that lol

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

:P

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

thanks for looking though :)

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

sure thing
