OpenStudy (alli6106):

If 5t = 45 and tk = 1, what is the value of k? And how? a. 1/45 b.1/9 c.1/5 d.5 e.9

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

first solve for t in the first equation \(5t = 45 \) we want just the \(t\) and not \(5t \), so what are we going to do?

OpenStudy (alli6106):

that = to 9

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

I dont understand your equation

OpenStudy (alli6106):

5t=45 t=9

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

oh okay then use that value of \(t \) to solve for the k \(9k =1 \), similarly, we just want k so what are we going to do?

OpenStudy (alli6106):

turn it into a fraction?

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

it is not a matter of turning it into fraction, but notice something we are always diving in the case of your problem and dividing follows the fractional form \(\huge \frac{p}{q} \) where p is the numerator and q is the denominator

OpenStudy (alli6106):

oh ok thanks

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

so it follows, that in order to solve for k is to divide \(9t \) by its coefficient \(9 \) as well as the right-hand side of the equation by that same divisor

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

easy peachy ain't it?

OpenStudy (alli6106):

yes thank you
