i am looking for a textbook that's good enough for a first timer but also having enough depth, for engineering mathematics. I am confused between K. A. Shroud and M. Greenberg. Any advice is appreciated...

Mathematical Methods in The Physical Sciences by Mary L. Boas is probably the book you want. It's amazing and probably one of my favorite books.
