Choose the equation of the line passing through the point (2, 6) and parallel to y = -3x - 4. y = 3x - 12 y = -3x y = -3x + 12 y = 3x

@Nnesha

Nnesha (nnesha):

parallel lines shuld have same slope

Nnesha (nnesha):

y=-3x-4 do you know what is slope in this equation ?

Nnesha (nnesha):

y = mx+b here m is slope which is always with x and b is -intercept what is m in this equation y = -3x - 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Nnesha

Nnesha (nnesha):

yes right so like i said before parallel lines have same slope so look at your answer choices and see which other equation have -3 slope

OpenStudy (anonymous):

b and c? @Nnesha

Nnesha (nnesha):

yes you can cancel out A and d okay so now you have to use order pair y=mx+b m is -3 so you can wirte it as y = -3x +b ( 2,6) <---use this order pair where first number is x and 2nd one is y (x,y)

Nnesha (nnesha):

replace x and y by their values into this equation y=-3x+b and then solve for b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok @Nnesha

Nnesha (nnesha):

|dw:1423924648172:dw| can u substitute x and y values into equation
