Need help with this inverse problem

jagr2713 (jagr2713):

is this a test @jj_2251

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know that when finding the inverse of a function I am supposed to change f(x) to y and then solve for x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope its old homework I am reviewing

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It says the correct answer is (x-10)**3 but I am not sure how to get the x on the other side to solve

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To find the inverse: Replace f(x) with y Switch x's and y's, so put x where y is and x where y is. Solve for y Replace y with f^-1(x)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To get rid of cube root x you just take the power of 3 on both sides.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lets do this step by step actually

OpenStudy (anonymous):

got it thanks. so now i have y=10+3sqrt(x). When I take the power of 3 on both sides, does it cancel the square root?
