-3|x + 7| = -12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i need help please... not a whole answer but help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you know what your first step would be?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

keep in mind that you want to get the absolute value by itself

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i believe to find the absolutee value right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes , so how do i find it if its just x+7 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so after you divide -3 by both sides, you would set the equation to both the positive and the negative case and remove the absolute values since x could be either positive or negative

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so you'd have x+7=-4 and x+7=4 then you solve for x in both cases

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanks
