What would happen if photosynthesis on Earth stopped? All plants and animals would die due to the absence of oxygen and carbohydrates (glucose) for respiration. All plants would die as they wouldn't be able to produce carbohydrates, while animals would survive because they don't carry out photosynthesis. All plants and animals would survive as they can carry out respiration, despite the absence of photosynthesis.
Well, lets think. Photosynthesis is the process in which plants make food from sunlight. Which choice do you think we could eliminate?
its A
As in A is the answer, or the one we can eliminate?
Plants and trees need photosynthesis to create energy and food from sunlight. If this stops they die. If trees in rainforests create most of the world's air, what would happen if they die? What would happen to animals that eat plants? What would happen to us since we lost our major oxygen supply?
One, plants do not need photosynthesis, the process they use to create glucose is called photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is not an independent thing, like carbon, which plants need to survive. Trees in rain forests do not create most of the world's oxygen. The total oxygen output of all land plants is roughly half of the total oxygen output of all photosynthetic organisms. About half comes form the ocean and the phytoplankton etc in the ocean.
The answer is A
@mrdoldum I stand corrected on the oxygen point you made. I am saying photosynthesis is crucial. Sure, some plants can't photosynthesize using light. (Like seaweed) But, plants need to photosynthesize because it produces food and energy to the plant. Carbon is not going to give the plant the energy and food it needs. He was asking about what would happen if plants stopped photosynthesizing. So, if plants can't generate energy and food what happens? That was the point I was trying to convey here.
