HELP EASY MEDAL

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@undeadknight26

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This is geometry correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The first frame of the picture is 30 cm long. He wants the frame of the 2nd one to be 18 cm long.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You will have to use the scale factor to find the 2nd picture width.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

30 cm/18cm is equal to 10/6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Since you're trying to make it smaller, the scale factor is 6/10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ITS 6/10 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry for the caps :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's not the width, that's what you're going to multiply the width of the 1st picture by.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the 1st picture is 24 cm wide. So it'll be 24(6/10)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Solve that equation and you should have the width of the 2nd picture.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay so that really reaaaally didnt help but thanks anyway

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No problem. The question asks for the width of the 2nd picture. 24(6/10) answer is the width of the 2nd picture. q.q

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so i divide or multiply

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry i just woke up -____-

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

LOL

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You multiply 24 by 0.6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

o.O

OpenStudy (anonymous):

40?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that cant be it...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

24 times .6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh sorry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

14.4 ?!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Correct!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yaaay ^_^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The width of the 2nd picture is 14.4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so do i put 14.4 or do i just put 14

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

I woulda done: 30/18 = 1.666666 24 * 1.66666 = 15

OpenStudy (anonymous):

14.4, if it was 14.0 you would just put 14. Or if it said round to the nearest ones.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay thank youuuu ^_^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@undeadknight26 Yeah, that came to my mind as well, haha. But I like making things long to help people to understand all of the math in it.
