I am sorry if this is a weird question, but I would like to point it out. What do we do when a OS user ask a question, and as were trying to help, there rushing us and wanting a direct answer. A few weeks ago I asked someone: What do you think it is? and the user replied back with "Thats not the answer know is it?" I forgot the users name but what do we do when a situation like that occurs? Or maybe there not trying to work out the problem with us.

OpenStudy (somy):

Tell them not to expect direct answers. If you notice this rush - that means they are doing timed online test which is against rules so report and leave dont help in that case

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It is against the Code of Conduct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"Have homework problems? We can help you - as long as you are looking to learn how to get your solution (and not just the answer). Please do not copy and paste your problems. If people are going to spend time to help you, you should at least spend the time to ask your question as clearly as possible."

OpenStudy (somy):

try to tell them first though if u see that they still continue - report no fighting no arguing, just report and leave

OpenStudy (conqueror):

You show them in the CoC this part...Have homework problems? We can help you - as long as you are looking to learn how to get your solution (and not just the answer). If they are not looking for help and only answers, don't bother helping them...or just get a moderator.

OpenStudy (conqueror):

By reporting of course...

OpenStudy (conqueror):

I've been stopping these DA givers for 7 months. >:{{

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

yep report!!

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

If you're not sure if it really is a test or not (and don't want to false report) I personally just teach at my own pace and if they rage quit then so be it :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Found it :)

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

That is also the other problem with the "What do you think" method of answering questions :/ most of the time people ask the question because they *don't* know what to think it's better to just start off with a fact/hint to push them in the right direction rather than "What do you think?"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

^ That is what I do...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I found where it happened again...

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

#pointmade - "What do you think?" is not the best method.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

^ I agree I don't like when people do it to me because it is not much help saying "What do you think?" most of the time I have NO IDEA what I think because I want help with working out the questions not guessing and getting told I'm wrong... Unless I say "check my answers please" saying "What do you think" isn't my preferred way of getting help :3

OpenStudy (kaylaprincess):

i agree with @sleepyhead314 for the " what do you think " method being wrong.

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

I didn't say wrong :P It's technically a valid method of helping but that has too many possible problems and negative impressions that come from such a method - and so is not the *best* method :P

OpenStudy (kaylaprincess):

.-. sorry i didn't mean wrong, ( pardon that ) i was just agreeing with you. .-.

OpenStudy (nothingwasthesame):

well for me i dont say what do you think i say lets read it over and point out what do you know so far about the problem if its multiple i say what makes the best sense right now

OpenStudy (nothingwasthesame):

i don't think saying what do you think is a bad method it gives you a platform to go off of in multiple if its a crazy answer it shows they don't know very much on the subject if its the answer it shows they know it but they were second guessing themselves and you can still fully explain when it comes to either option

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well most of the time people are doing it so they don't have to do there own test. Therefor asking "what do you think" is like asking do you have any idea what it might be? like can you do this or what are you struggling with THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH FOR ALL YOUR ANSWERS!
