Read the following selection from Act II of Romeo and Juliet. What does the line in bold most likely mean?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

NURSE Pray you, sir, a word: and as I told you, my young lady bade me inquire you out; what she bade me say, I will keep to myself: (Begin bold)but first let me tell ye, if ye should lead her into a fool's paradise, as they say, it were a very gross kind of behavior, as they say(end bold) : for the gentlewoman is young; and, therefore, if you should deal double with her, truly it were an ill thing to be offered to any gentlewoman, and very weak dealing. If you are not true to Juliet, you are behaving very badly. If you are in love with a Capulet, this is incorrect behavior. If you are going to get married young, you are disgusting. If you are already in love with someone else, you are bad.

OpenStudy (girlgoyleh.):

which line is in bold?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I tried to mark the beging and end with the "(begin bold) and (end bold) ut if you wish I can post it by itself

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The bold: but first let me tell ye, if ye should lead her into a fool's paradise, as they say, it were a very gross kind of behavior, as they say

OpenStudy (girlgoyleh.):

i think its either b or a.. gross means heavy (in shakespear language :P) which do you think?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think that the answer would be "B" due to Juliet being in the Capulet house and in the beginning it says "pray you, SIR, a word:" and I cannot imagine them saying sir to a female.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you so much for your help!

OpenStudy (girlgoyleh.):

Could you tell me if you were correct later? and you are very smart, youre welcome!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Will do, but I have an essay to write before I can finish this assignment so I was planning on completing all the multibal choice and doing the essay on a different day; but i will keep the question "open" and when I am done I will tag you

OpenStudy (canislupus):

This one: If you are not true to Juliet, you are behaving very badly. I think the nurse is talking to Romeo and basically telling him not to mess with Juliet's feelings if he is not serious about her. "Fool's Paradise" would refer to the deception, and "gross" means unethical in this situation.

OpenStudy (arabpride):

I remember reading the tragedy.. if you have any other questions on it please close this post, make another (so that you're posting each question individually) and fell free to tag me. :3
