OpenStudy (sagewilson):

If PA = 10 and BE = 21, find BP 4 25 46

OpenStudy (sagewilson):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what grade is this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@SageWilson

OpenStudy (anonymous):

??? r u even here @SageWilson

OpenStudy (sagewilson):

yeah sorry I was looking over the othr queations. It's 10th grade geometry

OpenStudy (sagewilson):

@ayanna1100 its 10th grade geometry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so do you know what to do first

OpenStudy (sagewilson):

Not really, do you think you could explain what to do?

Directrix (directrix):

You'll need this theorem. Attached.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Directrix is correct I think the answer is either a or c

OpenStudy (sagewilson):

So the formula would be 10 * (10 +21)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes!! isn't that correct @Directrix

Directrix (directrix):

(PA) ^ 2 = BP * PE 10^2 = (21 + x)*x where x = PE

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep that's it it was at the tip of my tongue you got it @SageWilson

Directrix (directrix):

4 is not the answer

Directrix (directrix):

Find BP. >> If PA = 10 and BE = 21, find BP

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so it has to be c

Directrix (directrix):

BP = BE + PE

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@SageWilson are you there

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it is c. 46...... that's my best answer

OpenStudy (sagewilson):

Wouldn't PE be 10 as well? like PA

Directrix (directrix):

How did you get 46? BP = BE + PE BP = 21 + 4 = @SageWilson

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ya why

OpenStudy (anonymous):

she didn't I did it dosent make sence

Directrix (directrix):

>>Wouldn't PE be 10 as well? like PA No. There is no reason to assume that.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

*sense

OpenStudy (sagewilson):

OH okay, I read it wrong then. I thought you said 4 was the answer, so 4 was the the measurment of PE.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhhhh I see sorry @SageWilson & @Directrix

OpenStudy (sagewilson):

not the answer to the problem

Directrix (directrix):

I stated above the x = PE To get BP, first find PE. (PA) ^ 2 = BP * PE 10^2 = (21 + x)*x where x = PE
