okay so the formula fo rthe area of a circle is pi*radius^2

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

but you were given the diameter, so you have to convert to radius. do you know how to do that?

OpenStudy (bohotness):

no

OpenStudy (bohotness):

no

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

okay so the radius of a circle has to be half the diameter, because it is the measure from the edge of the circle to the center. The diameter is the width of the circle (the maximum width)

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

so if the diameter of your circle is 6 cm, then knowing that your radius is half of that, what would the radius of the circle be?

OpenStudy (bohotness):

okayy

OpenStudy (bohotness):

its going to be half of 6

OpenStudy (bohotness):

woudl be its own half but it seems like 12 or 36

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

it is half of 6 yes... :P (sorry for the delay)

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

so what you want to do is take the number, half of 6, and square it... then when you multiply by pi that's your answer
