The mean of 8 numbers is 56.25. What would the new mean be if the numbers 108 and 100 are added to the data set? 65.8 82.25 73.1 69.75

@rosebud4612flvs

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's A

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Give me a second to work it out.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

to find the mean you need to dived the sum of a total of numbers by the numbers added

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@kevindragonlord for this problem, wouldn't you have to find the 8 numbers first?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

before you can add the 100 and 108?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that means to find the sum of the 8 numbers we need to multiply 8 * 56. 25

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no it would be near impossible

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so not A

OpenStudy (anonymous):

^Oh I see what you did. The answer would be 65.8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes rose

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks you both!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@n33dhelp1 it would be A. After multiplying 8*56.25 you get 450. You add the 108 and 100 to 450 to get 658. Divide that by 10 and you get 65.8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah it was A ty so much

You're welcome :)
