The data shown are hourly wages of some employees of a small company. $5, $7, $8, $10, $24, $40 Which values, if any, are outliers? A. $5 only B. $40 only C. both $5 and $40 D. none B? @iGreen

OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

@PizzaLover123 Do you know what an Outlier is??

OpenStudy (igreen):

First we calculate the IQR. IQR = Q3 - Q1 Q3 = 24 Q1 = 7 24 - 7 = ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@KendrickLamar2014 Yes... An Outlier is a value that is unusually small or large compared with the rest of the data

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@iGreen 17

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@KendrickLamar2014 I said B..

OpenStudy (igreen):

Err..

OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

Im 100% sure its not B @PizzaLover123

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Honestly I dont see how its none.@KendrickLamar2014

OpenStudy (igreen):

I do..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@KendrickLamar2014 Then is the supposent definition of "Outlier" crap?

OpenStudy (igreen):

I have no idea why it's 'none', but it is..

OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

yah ^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ikr @iGreen

OpenStudy (igreen):

I try plugging it into the outlier formula..and it says anything under than like 93.5 is an outlier..

OpenStudy (igreen):

Everything is under 93.5 ._.

OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

Yup, so that makes the answer None

OpenStudy (igreen):

Everything under Q1 - 1.5 * IQR 7 - 1.5 * 17 5.5 * 17 93.5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

IKR Like I'm just screwed the definition legit says the small or randomly large number 40 IS RANDOM?!!

OpenStudy (igreen):

This is a stupid question -.-

OpenStudy (anonymous):

~FacePalm~

OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

\[:(\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@KendrickLamar2014 Needs an badge ;p

OpenStudy (igreen):

I'll give one. Hold on.

OpenStudy (igreen):

I can give 2

OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

You can give 2 medals @iGreen

OpenStudy (igreen):

Yeah, I just gave one to @PizzaLover123 and you

OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

\[How?\]

OpenStudy (igreen):

-Make sure you haven't given any medals yet -Open the same post in a new tab -Click 'Best Response'. on two different people's replies -It only works for different people, it doesn't let you give 2 medals to the same person.

OpenStudy (igreen):

Oh, and you can give it to more than 2 different people too, you just have to open up more tabs

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got 40% unmastered 2/5

OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

oh wow I didnt know that
