Variable y varies directly with variable x, and y = 9 when x = 5. What is the constant of variation in decimal form? I got 1.8 @eta

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If y varies directly with x, then what will be the equation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

See, I can tell you one or two, not whole of your questions. It is just the same as we have done yesterday..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you understand that problem, then you must be able to solve this one..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im so confused im bad at math so I came here to ask how to find the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And if you have solved it then you must have confidence on your abilities..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, \(1.8\) is right.. Good.. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are we dividing something on both sides

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok man I was confused I wasn't sure but thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

See, understand it properly: \(y\) directly proportional to \(x\) means : \( y = kx\), if x increases then y also increases, and if decreases then y also decreases..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[9 = 5x\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Divide both the sides by \(5\) and there you go..
