The mayor of a small town wants to determine the opinion of citizens of his town on the building of a new recreation center. He will select every fifth name on a list of town citizens to survey. What type of sampling strategy is the mayor using? A. convenience B. simple random C. stratified random D. systematic C? or D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I was thinking between B and C not C and D, let me try and review this one.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@nbarrera @Pinkiexoxo Opps

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok, I am thinking B.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Gabylovesyou

OpenStudy (nbarrera):

I go with B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lets make sure from a expert at this stuff haha XD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Medal? If I helped :)

OpenStudy (welshfella):

I'm not an expert but I don't think the sampling is random.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Im so bad at this :P @Pinkiexoxo Heres the definition in my math book for B Simple random - Sampling all mebers of the population have an equal probablitty of selection :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

were did you get your profile pic? XD

OpenStudy (welshfella):

yes - now picking every name is not random

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@welshfella I wasnt sure at all really want the definitions to them?

OpenStudy (welshfella):

I'm pretty sure its systematic Wikipoedia is probably a good place to check

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In a "Simple Random" sampling all members of the population have an equal probability og selection. In a "Stratified random" sampling the population is first organized into seperate categories and then each is sampled as an independant subpoulation. In a "Systematic" sampling the population is ordered and then members are selected at regular intervals though that ordered list. In a "Convenience" sampling members of the population who are close at hand are selected/

OpenStudy (welshfella):

Yes - systematic - it says one type would be picking items from a list at regular intervals

OpenStudy (welshfella):

thats it D
