What is the cross section of a rectangular prism that is cut parallel to the base?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Agl202

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think a square. Because the rectangular prism is on the base which is a square

Directrix (directrix):

Look at the diagram and post what you think.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's basically standing up

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yup, square, right??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thx:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh and also...

Directrix (directrix):

Why a square? What if the rectangular prism had been a shoebox. A plane parallel to the bottom of the shoebox would not be a square.

Directrix (directrix):

Post the options.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what would be the shape of the cross section of it is cut diagonally to the bse

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no options

Directrix (directrix):

The cross section could be a square but it does not have to be. It has to be a rectangle.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah. but is that for part 2?

Directrix (directrix):

I did not see a part 2.

Directrix (directrix):

I answered this: What is the cross section of a rectangular prism that is cut parallel to the base?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If a cross section of the prism is cut diagonal to the base, what would be the shape of the resulting cross section

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats part 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Directrix

Directrix (directrix):

Look at diagram and decide.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

rectangle, thx :)

Directrix (directrix):

You are welcome.
